Agricultural Water Use Forecasts
To support regional water planning, the Center led development of agricultural water use forecasts for Georgia. Forecasts incorporate predictions of crops and acreages expected to be irrigated. Future water needs are calculated for a range of weather conditions, and allocated to various possible water sources in each region. Forecasts were recently completed to support the 2022 regional water plan review and revision process. This project is conducted in cooperation with the University of Georgia and funded by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.
