Regional Water Plan Implementation Seed Grants

The Water Policy Center has received two seed grants to support implementation of the regional water plans. The first was a study of water supply alternatives in the Ichawaynochaway watershed. This project evaluated the feasibility of converting irrigators in the basin that rely on surface water to deep aquifer water sources. Source conversion was recommended in several regional water plans that address portions of the Flint and Chattahoochee River Basins. This project was completed in 2017.

The second seed grant project is on-going.  This project is compiling information on flow-dependent benefits and values of waters in the Upper Oconee Region. This information will be used to support enhanced interpretation of the resource assessments in this river basin and to inform the review and revision of the Upper Oconee Regional Water Plan.
